"To be or not to be"
When Hamlet is asking the question To be or not be, he is basically saying life or death. I feel like this part of the text is mainly focusing on himself and it is not just a broad question overall. This soliloquy is focusing on Hamlet himself and I guess you could think that it is suppose to mean something to others but in it Hamlet mainly talks about his faults and what he thinks. He continues to talk about dreaming and death.
1.2 "To be or not to be"
In 1.2, lines 135-138 Hamlet is talking about how pointless he thinks life is. He seems to be complaining and saying negative things about himself. In his soliloquy he talks about dying and how he thinks that it would be a good solution to his problem. He wants to know is it really worth living? He talks about the pains of love and we know that Ophelia drives him crazy.

Hamlet 1.3 Response
Polonius tone with Laertes and Ophelia is completely different. In the scene we watched during class Polonius was very calm and encouraging to Laertes. When he left Polonius started yelling at Ophelia about Hamlet and telling her to stay away from him. It seemed that he is very protective over Ophelia. Polonius and Laertes are on the same page about Hamlet. They both do not want Ophelia around him. They demand her to stay away from him and ignore his flirting with her.

Act 1 Sc 2 "Hamlet"
King Claudius gives a speech to Hamlet in Act 1 Scene 2. Claudius says that Hamlet has mourned enough and he needs to stop. He describes Hamlet as unmanly because he has mourned over his father for a long time. In the beginning of this speech he says that Hamlet is "sweet and commendable" but then goes on to say he needs to suck it up and understand that his father lost him father who lost father and so on. Claudius goes on to repeat the word fault which means that Hamlets excessive grief is his fault.
"Hamlet" Act 1 Sc 1
In the first scene of "Hamlet" the opening starts off with Barnardo and Francisco going straight into the conversation. Barnardo and Marcellus talk about the ghost they have seen. They have only seen this ghost twice and they think that it is the dead King. Horatio does not believe in this ghost, so they sit around and wait for it to come. The ghost finally comes and Marcellus keeps telling Horatio to talk to it but he is scared. The ghost goes away because he is offended but later comes back. The ghost then leaves a second time because the rooster crows which means it is morning.
